A few days ago I posted about nuclear power and Lovelock's view that nuclear energy should be used. Last night on "West Wing" the "threat" side of the question was dramatized. Radioactive steam, mass exodus, death of workers...But as Lovelock notes:
We must stop fretting over the minute statistical risks of cancer from chemicals or radiation. Nearly one third of us will die of cancer anyway, mainly because we breathe air laden with that all pervasive carcinogen, oxygen.It still is very hard to overlook the threat, to overlook the cancers, to overlook the sufferings, to overlook the pain...
