Rush Limbaugh - A Great American?

Tuesday, November 30, 2004

Rush is a great thinker, a great man, a great American, a great humanitarian..... But really folks.

He clearly hates the NY Times, the Red Cross, but loves to torture those "evil-doers". Pop another pill Rush. Oh wait, based on his last insincere and outright "wrong" paragraph, he already has.

This just confirms everything I've always said. The bad guys get all the girls! How many of you guys out there have to beg for these kinds of sexual overtones out there in your daily lives? And here these prisoners are having it for nothing while sitting in their underwear with rock music, rap music, and strobe lights and the air conditioning turned up -- and this merits a huge big story in the New York Times about how inhumane we are.
Rush, not everyone likes to sit in a cell with AC, strobe lights, blaring rock and rap music, and the fear (and reality) that the next hour you may have to face some physical or emotional abuse. We know you must. But we really don't want to think of you sitting there in your underwear.

Which War Is This Anyway?

Tom Engelhardt has written a nice piece.

Today's friend is tomorrow's enemy. It always changes - based on what is in it for us. This was the case with Hussein. It will be the case with Allawi.

So be ready England. We still have to pay you back for burning the White House in 1812. Elephants never forget, but they do have a short memory for friends/enemies and history.

Communism - the real evil?

Monday, November 29, 2004

This comic book page is about the 60's evil - Communism. It is interesting to read the words. Substitute any fanatic, jingoistic ideology and the comic can apply to all (sorry W- even your brand of democracy).

The End of The World!!!

Nostradamus, the Bible, the psychics were right. The end of the world is right around the corner. What else could explain this from the Department of Defense's Defense Science Board:

'Muslims do not hate our freedom, but rather they hate our policies [the report says]. The overwhelming majority voice their objections to what they see as one-sided support in favor of Israel and against Palestinian rights, and the long-standing, even increasing, support for what Muslims collectively see as tyrannies, most notably Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan and the Gulf states. Thus, when American public diplomacy talks about bringing democracy to Islamic societies, this is seen as no more than self-serving hypocrisy.'
Wow, intelligent life has been found.

War Crimes or Withdrawal

Stephen A. Allen writes a good article about the realities of war and comes to the ultimate conclusion that we need to "just declare victory in Iraq and withdraw". We have created a major problem in Iraq, We have brought that nation to the brink of civil war. Pull our troops out and bring in U.N. peace keeping troops.

The topic was posted previously but now it seems to be making some other nations a little angry - as they should. We should also be angry that our nation is using napalm AGAIN!!! Click here for the SundayMirror article.

JFK Liberalism

Sunday, November 28, 2004

This is a speech John F. Kennedy gave in 1960. It was a speech to the Liberal Party in NY.

"But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

He also said that "national elections have often proved to be the turning point in the course of our country." This year's election will prove to be a major turning point - the strengthening of a progressive and anti-war movement. Thanks W.

Bush: When Even the Good News is Bad

Seymour Hersh has written eloquently about our history and our present. He has covered My Lai to Abu Gharaib. A good writer who has uncovered the truth without being afraid to tell the truth. In this article he says W is "committed to perpetual war." W, who doesn't read newspapers (I wonder if he reads the daily briefings he gets every morning?), relies on his regime to feed him the news, ideas, etc. Now we know why he sat in that classroom for so long, no one was there to tell him to get up off his ass.

Dead-Check in Falluja

Many posts ago, after the video of the Marine shooting the wounded Iraqi, I said that the Marine's training created a condition where the enemy was de-humanized. I got some e-mails saying I was way off base. Well the Vilage Voice has given us Dead-Check in Falluja by Evan Wright that really talks about the training that the Marines receive and the "dead check" procedure.

This sure isn't like the John Wayne movies about the "Fighting Seebees" or other WWII movies. "Americans celebrate war in their movies. We like to see visions of evil being defeated by good. When the people at home glimpse the reality of war, that it's a bloodbath, they freak out. We are a subculture they created and programmed to fight their wars. You have to become a psycho to kill like we do."

It's time to create some "peace" training instead of combat training..

Jerusalem Post reports on bombing plans

Saturday, November 27, 2004

Plans to bomb Iran have been reported before, and posted at this site. But the heat does seem to be rising. The question is: why this timeframe? Before the Iraqi elections - to influence the elections? Just a power play to show the EU that we still are big dog even though the dollar is not? Or just another bone-headed move by W to get us closer to his glorious end-times?

The Face of Terror -

David Smith-Ferri writes that "Terrorism isn't a cultural mindset inculcated from youth, but a strategy borne of, and sustained by, unjust conditions." Couldn't agree more. Our actions in Iraq has increased the violence and swelled the ranks of the "terrorists". It has also brought Iraq to the brink of civil war. We must step back and look at Iraq with an open mind and not one ruled by fear or words like "axis of evil". What has really been accomplished there? What mission has been accomplished? When we stop drop our jingoistic fervor, we will see that this war was not the "answer" at all (especially when we didn't even know what the question was).

It's Time for Americans to Support Peace Instead of US War Machine

Friday, November 26, 2004

An article by Bill Dunn that needs no further comments from me. Absolutely. Bravo.

Thanks for Nothing Turkey

Thursday, November 25, 2004

Mark Fiore's Flash Comic. Things to be thankful for. Thanks W for a great and peaceful(?) turkey day. Well, it was peaceful in my house. It makes me so glad that others voted for you.

Maybe there is hope for the U.S. Attempts to impeach Blair are applauded. But the problem here is, look who would replace W if he was impeached. The idea should be to impeach the whole damn lot of them, not just W.

Falwell's Thanksgiving message

Jerry Falwell is insane. In his Thanksgiving message he thanks God for talk radio, Hannity, Rush, Drudge and FOX. The man is a lunatic. A real turkey for Thanksgiving. Jerry, you give new meaning to the word asshole.

Kill a terrorist for Christ, then just go to Jerry for absolution. It's okay, God told Jerry and W it's okay. Really!

Which election is Powell talking about?

Wednesday, November 24, 2004

"We cannot accept this result as legitimate because it does not meet international standards and because there has not been an investigation of the numerous and credible reports of fraud and abuse," Powell said in a statement read to reporters.
Was Powell talking about Ukraine or was this a Freudian slip about his boss's recent steal?

How to End the Iraq War

Tom Hayden produces a nice blueprint on How to End the Iraq War.

Before everyone goes crazy, yes Hayden was one of the Chicago Eight. Yes he was with Jane Fonda. But he is also a person who has a vision and passion for justice and peace.

"Our priorities must change. Both parties now are trapped in the vicious cycle of the "war on terrorism," just as they were caught up in the Cold War, be it the nuclear arms race, opportunistic alliances with dictators, and McCarthyite suppression of domestic critics. Only the Sixties peace and civil rights movements could finally shatter Cold War thinking at that time. It will take another such movement today to restore America's respect in the world, take steps towards global justice, and in the process possibly prevent another 9/11 attack."

Check your zipper

This Yahoo! News - World Photo from AP is too good to be true. Our fearless leader with his zipper down. What a classic rube. XYZ, W!!

War Against Iran Would (They Think) Take Our Minds off Disaster in Iraq

Ed Garvey, in this Common Dreams article, touches on a subject that I have commented on before - Iran you are next. His point (slightly tomgue in cheek IMO) is that an Iran action would take our minds off Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Then Syria would be invaded to take our minds of Iran, Iraq. HMMM I get the picture now.

I think his last sentence, looking for a McCarthy, is perfect. But Ed we already have Kucinich and other peace warriors already trying to "stop the madness of an empire run amok."

Monday, November 22, 2004

Thanks to Novakeo for mentioning this video by Jynkz: WE DON'T WANT YOUR WAR.

What am I thankful for?

As we prepare to celebrate our Thanksgiving I stop to think of what I am thankful for. I am thankful that:

1) I did not vote for Bush

2) I live in a Blue State

3) There are politicians who care about civil liberies and work for peace (look at Kucinich)

4) There are more people in this world who regard W as a problem than there are who view him as a savior

5) That there are many organizations who are fighting for peace, the environment, justice

6) That as of this Thursday my three sons do not have to worry about a draft

7) That there are only 4 years left to W's regime (or less if he gets impeached or thrown out of office).

Give Turkeys Something to be Thankful For

This site from PETA is something to think about this Thursday.

Today's Dems look like Repugs...

Sunday, November 21, 2004

Democrats Commit Suicide from ZNet really lays into the Dem party for Reid and the constant trend to the right. This trend was apparent during the election when Kerry was trying to be more W than W. They were stumbling over each other to prove who would kill more terrorists.

The party must immediately kick out chair McAuliffe. It must start listening to the progressive wing of the party. Look to Kucinich, Dean, Sharpton ... for answers. Consider what Wellstone would be doing right now. Consider the opinions of who brought you to the dance.
On a personal note, this week and weekend have been slow as far as my blogging. Work is....well one does have to make a living. But even though I feel I have been out of touch with the news and latest world developments, I know things are the same as they were last week - Messed UP!!! One more week of going crazy with work and then I want to research the Sudan situation and environmental issues to a greater extent - That is if Iraq and Iran don't heat up even more. Seeing the build-up, I think Iran may be a great Christmas present(?) for us. So much to do, so much to read, so much to rant about, so much work, so little time. AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Declaring war against the world!

With the Pentagon turning heat up on Iran and the European nations set against our swagger (again) W is once more settting the U.S. on a lonely road with very few friends and allies. The more we engage in unilateral actions, the more we exhibit "we know better than anyone" attitudes, the more we will become isolated in this world.

The European nations, as they become the United States of Europe, are becoming a powerful economic force, eady to flex their muscles. If we continue to act as the school yard bully or the loner; EU funds, trade, and eyes will be turned away from our shores. No one likes the bully, no one picks the buly for their team. Let's learn a lesson from the playground.

The future Constitution?

Saturday, November 20, 2004

So much has been written lately about the future of our nation. This article takes it one step further and shows us what our Constitution may just look like. Amendment I calls Christianity the "state-sanctioned religion". It's funny to read and sad because so many citizens would love this. Other cultures, other creeds, other nations, who needs them - We are The United States of God's America. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. We will need it if this constitution comes true.

Falluja Policy Statement - Progressive Democrats of America

Progressive Democrats of America are asking the Democratic Party to step up to the plate and to call this war a mistake. (It is a statement that was made by Congressman Kucinich who has not wavered from that position.) It was a position that was "danced around" during the election - bad war but Kill the Terrorists". It is high time that the Democratic Party declare itself as opposed to this war. The time is now before we find ourselves deeper in Iraq and with a foot in Iran. It is time to speak out against the war, speak out against W. It is time everyone realizes that a true patriot is one who speaks out when he/she sees injustice or errors in policy. To follow blindly the dictates of madmen does not qualify as patriotism.

A proud citizen of Connecticut

IQ and the choice of candidate? Wow, I sure am happy to live in Connecticut.

Powell Says Iran Is Pursuing Bomb

I take back any nice things I ever said about Colin Powell. Before he leaves he now has to lay the groundwork for actions against Iran? This reminds me of the vials of anthrax or the mobile labs Iraq had. I thought that the fiasco in Iraq would have slowed down the sabre rattling over Iran. I was wrong.

Powell Says Iran Is Pursuing Bomb (washingtonpost.com)

Fallujah 101: A history lesson about the town we are currently destroying

In These Times provides a short but important history lesson. History is there to be studied so as to not make the same mistakes twice. I wonder what history courses W took at Yale?

I want my West Wing!

Where is my favorite show? I don't like this year's pace, lack of substance and character overhaul. I want my TV West Wing to be the complete opposite of today's real West Wing. I want my TV West Wing to be intelligent, visionary, forward-thinking, idealistic, moral... I want to see the intelligent President Bartlett, the smart Josh, the thoughtful Toby. Those guys gave me hope. Instead as the real West Wing sinks deeper into the quagmire of idiocy, my dreamworld Bartlett and crew become like the real W and his regime. I want Sorkin!

Why Bush's America Feels Like Orwell's 1984

The author of a new book tells us: Why Bush's America Feels Like Orwell's 1984. So Orwell was 20 years off.

Interesting book idea. Read more about the book at Buzzflash.com

Film Strip International

Great flash movie at Film Strip International. Poor W. Why is everyone picking on him? Maybe it's because he really is an a**hole.

They have got to be kidding - Right?

Tuesday, November 16, 2004

I found Rice 2008 website. It is legit and not "tongue in cheek". Wow I just blew chunks all over my keyboard.

U.S. probes shooting at Fallujah mosque

This MSNBC report concerns the shocking story of a Marine who shot a wounded Iraqi. I know that there will be those who say: It's war. It's only one Marine. The problem is that I will not lay the blame at the feet of that Marine. I will not lay the blame at the feet of his immediate commander. The blame must be placed at the feet of our entire nation.

These soldiers are trained to hate and kill the "enemy". And who is the enemy? The answer is: whoever our nation feels is the enemy that day. We are told to "kill all the terrorists". Our nation is told to go about our daily routines but "be afraid", THEY are out to hurt us because we "love freedom". It is always us against them. We just have to remember : to that Iraqi who watched and felt that last round of bullets, those Marines were THEM.

Fallujah in Pictures

This is the site (Fallujah in Pictures.) talked about today on Air America, talked about everywhere except main stream media. Gruesome, sad, maddening.... The author, on the radio, said that getting the pictures was a matter of spelling Fallujah correctly and looking at the press of the world. The destruction of this war is documented, not by FOX but by others worldwide.

The pictures are very sad and very real.

Rats jumping ship!!

Monday, November 15, 2004

Ashcroft leaves - Alberto "torture king" Gonzalez takes over. Now Powell announces he's leaving and lizard Rice is rumored to be W's choice.

There was something about Powell that made me feel some sorrow for the man. I always felt he didn't agree with W, Rummy, Uncle Dick, and Condi. Too bad he didn't have the balls, at least in public, to say something. Too bad he put his foot in his own mouth in front of the U.N. as he espoused the administration's lies. Bye bye Colin.

Now if Condi is Colin's replacement, we will be able to see W's international policies go full throttle. I have no good feelings for Rice. I think she is one of the problem children of this administration. Sure she plays a mean piano, but she is made in Uncle Dick's mold. She may not have W's swagger but she agrees with W that the best diplomacy comes out of a gun barrel.

Get ready Iran, Syria, Palestine, North Korea... Condi is in the house so you better be very very very nice.

Election 2004

Keith Olbermann seems to be the only talking head still reporting on the election and the fraud that took place.

Received an e-mail from a listgroup that talked about the election and Kerry's decision to concede. The e-mail also had what was purported to be a letter from Cam (John's brother) Kerry to supporters. The email talks about how JK is a former DA and is just waiting for all the evidence. Also talks about Nader and his call for recounts. (Please note that this post has been changed. Initially the e-mail made it seem that Cam had talked about his brother as a DA. But, thanks to Why Are We Back In Iraq , who pointed out the original letter, I found that the DA comments were not Cam's but added by another reader).

My opinion is that there just may be something there. The Greens, Nader, organizations, etc. are all working behind the scenes to have the votes counted. We don't hear this on NBC, FOX, CBS... but on blogs, e-mails, Air America and Olbermann. Maybe JK's concession was a ploy. Maybe he conceded so the repug dogs would back off and take their eyes off the "recount". Maybe the votes will be recounted and Kerry announced as the winner.

Yeah sure!

AP Photographer Flees Fallujah

Sunday, November 14, 2004

ABC News reports on an AP photographer who was in Fallujah and luckily, got out with his life. He witnessed "murder". I think that is all you can call it when U.S. snipers were shooting anyone swimming in the river away from the city.

Oh yeah, those civilians posed a real threat didn't they. Yeah the family of five were real hard-core terrorists - they were just making believe they were fleeing for their lives, they were really looking for their next target.

Bye-bye John

Spy-der-man is brought to you by the Alliance for Justice.

Watch the short clip/movie. No need to sign the petition at the end - "ding-dong the *itch is gone." I am sure that this site will be around for John's replacement: Alberto. He may bring the Gitmo tactics to our shore - Oh Joy!. Justice the W way!!!

Question NOTHING!!!

Saturday, November 13, 2004

"Ashcroft says judges threaten national security by questioning Bush decisions."

So don't question anything coming out of the Big House, I mean White House. Everything they do or say is absolutely correct, constitutional, moral, and for the greater good.

MMMM! That Kool-aid was delicious.

Alberto Gonzales: The Torture Guy

Our new (or soon to be since the Repugs control everything it seems) Attorney General: Alberto Gonzales: The Torture Guy could give two sh*ts about international law, justice, decency... Bruderhof Peacemakers Guide - Jun Yasuda

Friday, November 12, 2004

I had written previously that I met Jun this summer. Bruderhof Peacemakers Guide is a great site. Great examples of some "peacemakers". If we all could take our inspiration from these individuals the world would be better off.

APC's in L.A.

Los Angeles Independent Media Center report that an APC was at an anti-war rally and created some havoc. Hey, maybe they heard a rumor that Osama was in town.

Falluja facing humanitarian crisis

I have been criticized for citing Middle Eastern (in other words non-U.S.) news sources. But until U.S. media reports on all aspects of this war including the devastation we are inflicting on innocent civilians, I have to look everywhere for news including: Aljazeera.

Congratulations Yusuf "Cat"

Thursday, November 11, 2004

Yusuf Islam has received the Man for Peace award: (photo and news article). I guess Tom Ridge didn't have a vote or say in who should win the award.
"Peace Train" excerpt -

Cause out on the edge of darkness,

There rides a peace train

Oh peace train take this country,

Come take me home again

Oh I've been smiling lately,

Thinking about the world as one

And I believe it could be,

Some day it's going to come

Some day it's going to come,

Come take me home again,

Mmm, come on the peace train

Some day it's going to come,

Come on the peace train,

Mmm, come take me home again,

Some day it's going to come,

Some day it's going to come,

Some day - some day,

Some day it's going to come

I've been crying lately,

Thinking about the world as it is

Why must we go on hating?

Why can't we live in bliss?

If the reports of napalm and gas use are true, we should hang our heads in shame. It would be a criminal act and justice must be demanded.

Peace Pilgrim - Revisited

Wednesday, November 10, 2004

I think it is time to repost this work by Peace Pilgrim:

On the scarred battlefield, where they forced me to go I met a man that they said was my foe---- And I ran him through with my blade! When I pulled it out and his blood gushed forth, I was suddenly filled with racking remorse---- "I have killed a man!" I said. He was slim and youthful and frightened like me, And not a fiend as they said he would be---- "They sent me to kill you," he sighed. "By God! I wish you had done so!" I swore. "Why, I don't even know what I'm fighting for!" "Nor I," he breathed, and died.

Irak - Anti-war film from Spain

View this: IRAK but be aware that there are some very sad photos contained. Haunting soundtrack. Be prepared to have your heart broken. Be prepared to raise your voice to stop this war.

View a great little movie at this site: MINDistortion.net . On the main page, click on the "War" movie to the left. The cycle of hate, the cycle of war, the cycle of DEATH.

Why don't we consider the civilian lives?

The Economist article estimates that 40,000 Iraqis have been killed. Why have we not counted and not cared? Isn't an Iraqi life important? Where is the outcry of the "armies of compassion". Doesn't their God care for the Iraqis?

Sunni party withdraws from Iraqi government in protest over Fallujah

Tuesday, November 09, 2004

Our increased military action is doing one thing - tearing apart any semblance of a coalition. This USA TODAY article states that the Iraqi Islamic Party, which exerts great influence over the Sunnis, has left the coalition. Adding to a civil war scenario that has been festering for a while.

But the great(?) news doesn't stop there. Asia Times reports on the Fallujah strike and how it will increase the number of "foreign" fighters, and increase anti-American feelings in other nations.

And finally this article, from The Independent is titled: "America failing test of history as offensive compared to terror tactics of pariah states". I don't think I even have to add a comment.

Screams will not be heard

Monday, November 08, 2004

I don't have to say too much or add any comments. Just read Guardian Unlimited | Guardian daily comment | Screams will not be heard. After reading, think about what our country is doing in your name.

U.S. Troops Launch Fallujah Assault

This attack was supposed to boost the chance of having the elections run on time. It was designed to get "rid" of the insurgents. But when you read this article in theledger.com you get the feeling it, instead, may even widen the ranks of the Iraqis who are opposed to our occupation. "The Association of Muslim Scholars, an influential Sunni clerics group that has threatened to boycott elections, condemned the assault on Fallujah, calling it 'an illegal and illegitimate action against civilian and innocent people.'" Even al-Sadr, through a spokesman, is coming to the forefront again and urging the Iraqi troops to not help the Americans.

Hey, if we play things absolutely right, we will unite the Iraqis (except for the Kurds) - unite them against us.

Carnage and Martial Law

Sunday, November 07, 2004

This is the news we will not hear on FOX, ABC... Iraq Dispatches: Carnage and Martial Law is from an independent journalist who has spent months in Iraq documenting the devastation the war has had on children and innocents.

Climbing for Peace

Sometimes there are some bright lights and spots that shine through the darkness. Some may view this climb of Everest as just a small act. But every act of peace and love adds up. Hats off to the climbers!

Evangelical Marines Prepare to Battle Barbarians

Faith and spirituality are fine. But when religion adds to one's fury and frenzy it leads to Holy War. And that ain't good!

As I said previously, STOP THE CRUSADE!!!!

Over 30 Killed in Iraq Insurgent Attacks

Martial law declared in Iraq. 10,000 troops ready for door-to-door combat in Fallujah. CBS News put it simply: this will mean U.S. casualties. What they forgot to tell us about are the civilian casualtiies that are assured as well. But hey! this battle is very important. We are not just fighting insurgents or "terrorists". We are, as a Marine states in this article, fighting Satan. Come on everyone, this is the battle of darkness versus light. The battle of good versus evil. Come on now - don't you just want to jump up, grab a gun, and join in. Well, don't you?

Is it just me or are these kind if statements from the troops scary? I know W thinks this way, but when our troops use these kind of metaphors, it opens the door for rage and terror. It dehumanizes the insurgents. It makes it too easy to kill wantonly. Folks, STOP THE CRUSADE.

US strikes raze Falluja hospital

Saturday, November 06, 2004

Perfect. I guess there were so many "terrorists' hiding in this Falluja hospital that we just had to bomb the sh*t out of it. Don't ask about casualties (hospitals usually have patients, doctors and nurses you see). But hey, all collateral damage is acceptable right?

Prayers and tears in Falluja

Read this BBC NEWS report. War has never been so "clean" that only soldiers' lives were in jeopardy. It never will be. Here in the U.S. we must think about the innocents who are being killed, injured or made homeless by this war. The measure of this war (and any war) should not only be based on U.S. forces killed or injured, but also on the Iraqi citizens (young and old, "insurgent" and bystander...) who have been killed, maimed, brutalized.

Dear W: Every nation's actions must stand the test of "moral values". Killing is killing and always will be. The U.S. does not have a "free ride" ticket that allows it to kill innocents and not atone for the devastation. Know that the world is watching. Oh and if he didn't tell you the last time you two talked , God is watching too.

Fallujah battle

Friday, November 05, 2004

"Marines say the toll is expected to rival those seen in Vietnam War". And then at the end of the article one Marine states that this fight is overdue. Exciting isn't it? They are gearing up. Even the military hospital is preparing for the Fallujah battle.

What will we gain? More deaths, more amputees, more angry and pissed-off Iraqis, more people demanding an end to the war... This build-up started before the election. The sh*t hits the fan now that W has his "political capital". It's "no holds barred" George coming at you.

Coalition Members Mull Iraq Pullout

Wait you forgot Poland! Oh that's right, the election is over. Sorry, I forgot.

So if all our allies are pulling out why can't we? Help Iraq rebuild, but stop the occupation. Stop the killing. Stop the bombing. Stop the destruction of Fallujah. Violence leads to increased violence. Haven't we learned that lesson yet?

Sing it Stephen

Thursday, November 04, 2004

Just imagine Stephen Stills singing:

For What It's Worth - Buffalo Springfield

There's something happening here

What it is ain't exactly clear

There's a man with a gun over there

Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn

Nobody's right if everybody's wrong

Young people speaking their minds

Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat

A thousand people in the street

Singing songs and carrying signs

Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep

Into your life it will creep

It starts when you're always afraid

You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Stop, now, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Stop, children, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Kerry Won

JUST GRRRRREATTT! Kerry Won but he concedes. Maybe he doesn't really want to clean up W's mess. Or was it a secret Skull & Crossbones pact? Seriously, I wonder if Mrs. Edwards medical condition had a bearing on the decision.

No matter. I say COUNT THE VOTES!!!!!! in Ohio, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Florida...................

To The Barricades!!!

I am tired, depressed, angry, really tired, confused.....

So W pulled it out and Kerry conceded, even though there are so many reports of "stealing" (read Palast's article).. Maybe it really was what some blogs have talked about; Kerry was there to just step-aside for his fellow "Skull and Crossbone" member. Whatever! Well kids be ready for one helluva wild ride.

The good news - I am a citizen of a Blue State. The bad news - the town I live in and the town I work in went for W. But even in the red states I think there is a sense of people pulling together into a tribe. We are in darkness now, but I think that very soon there will be a light at the end of a tunnel (think of the House elections in two years). With W running crazy, thinking he received a mandate, he surely will alienate many of those who voted for him. He will become reckless and swagger into further MidEast conflicts, increasing thre ranks of the anti-war movement. And of course as we diminish in status in the world as the European Union sees their opportunity to rise above us (remember so many world citizens are shaking their heads in disbelief today), many voters will turn to a new direction. And as those voters who cast their votes based on "moral values" realize that W's view of moral values means discrimination and war, they to will turn away.

But what to turn to? I hope that they can turn to a Democratic party led by Kucinch, Dean, Sharpton... that has taken up progressive ideals. A party that no longer is wedded to the DLC that seeks a centrist and rightist attitude. A party that will fight for all citizens to the end.

Spo it is to the barricades my friends. The fight is not over with this election, the fight for a progressive and liberal voice in the Democratic party has just heated up. So stand back Clinton, Lieberman, Mayor Koch.... Make way for the true democrats.

A photo finish!!!

Tomorrow's the big day!! Get away the internet and your TV and go vote.

I have been very surprised and embarrassed to say that my predictions of an October surprise didn't materialize. Sure there were dirty tricks, tapes, increased troop numbers,... but I was expecting an incursion into Iran. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy I was way off base.

There has been much speculation as to what will happen to all the political blogs after tomorrow. Well the rantings of this guy will remain. If W pulls it out, well you can see I am not a big fan so I will continue raving about my friend W. If Kerry wins I will stick around and push for peace and progressive ideals (he needs a big push). This blog never had as its sole goal the election of Kerry or the defeat of W. Loftier and more idealistic goals prevail.

There is still much work to be done to move this country in a new direction. Our work must be to change this country from its fear, revenge and war-footing to paths of justice and peace.

Have fun(?) watching the returns.
