Another Blank Check For Perpetual War
$66 billion! How many homes can be built in New Orleans for that amount? How many meals can be served to the homeless? How many advances can be made in researching and implementing alternative energy sources?
That's how The Nation, and reported on CBS, calls this. And rightly so.
The Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives maintained its track record of providing absolutely no checks and balances on the Bush administration's warmaking this week, when it voted 351-67 to authorize another $66 billion in "emergency" spending for the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.
