Set up - martyrdom - internal squabble?

Financial Times reports that...
Showing graphic pictures of the dead al-Qaeda leader’s bloodied head, a spokesman for the US-led coalition on Thursday elaborated on how the operation to strike at Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had unfolded. So who squealed? Was this a move for martyrdom? The al-Qaeda websites referred to him as such almost immediately. Did he make the ultimate sacrifice for his cause? Or was he set up in a power play?
The information that led to the air strike that killed him came from within Zarqawi’s own network, said Maj Gen Bill Caldwell.
