- Peace Garden: WWIII?

Thursday, July 13, 2006

A lot of talk on the TV by some talkingheads that WWIII is around the corner. With today's escalation of violence by Israel and our targeting of Iran and Syria - they couldn't be more right.

I couldn't agree more with the European Union's comments:

“The European Union is greatly concerned about the disproportionate use of force by Israel in Lebanon in response to attacks by Hezbollah on Israel,” according to a statement issued by Finland, which holds the EU’s rotating presidency. “The presidency deplores the loss of civilian lives and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. The imposition of an air and sea blockade on Lebanon cannot be justified.”
In the EU’s strongest comment on the escalating violence, the statement said “actions, which are contrary to international humanitarian law, can only aggravate the vicious circle of violence and retribution, and cannot serve anyone’s legitimate security interests.”
Three soldiers taken - Lebanese civilians killed. The scales are slightly askew.

But all this seems to fit into our regime's plans for the region. For so long I have been talking about and expecting incursions into Iran or Syria and trying to figure out which will be next. Now it seems that they may be hit at the same time - by our stand-in Israel.

Oh what a lovely world we live in. Ready to bend over and kiss your ass bye-bye?
