A movie blog?

... No this is not becoming a movie review blog, but I was thinking about my favorite movies recently. Both movies are about "different" people who were, in many ways, opposites of society or the organizations they found themselves in.
"Harold and Maude" is a classic. Two souls so different and maybe even odd. But they showed us how to live life to the fullest - live for the now. And of course the songs of Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam). The film is still great, the songs are still great, the message is still great... And then there is "Serpico". Serpico fought the corruption of the NY Police force - a force he joined. Standing in opposition to corruption, he found himself standing in front of a loaded gun that went off in his face. I understand that he is now living in upstate New York - outside of Albany. And what could you say about Pacino. I think that this was his best performance ever.
So why movie posts -- well I was reading "The Future Dictionary of America" published by McSweeney's Books. This is a great book and CD to benefit progressive causes. One was of looking at it is that it is a dictionary of a post-Bush America. What caught my eye and brought me to thinking about my favorite movies was an entry for "Serpico - in final, undeniable widespread recognition of the badassness of the character...who can grow hair as s/he wants and/or party with models..all the while fighting the Man." This was penned by Benjamin Cohen.
A great book, great music CD that comes with the book, and two great movies.
