Doomed, I tell ya!

That's the way I feel lately. Doomed as a nation, doomed as a race, doomed as a planet.

There are still 30% or more of this nation who view W as King. There are those who are ready to rally around him when he drops the bomb on Iran! There are too many people who do not speak out against the war! There are too many who never question the government's actions.

The economy bites! The rich are getting richer and everyone else - the gap between the rich and "not rich" is widening.

Gas prices are rising yet we hear nothing about conservation. And we see too many out riding around in their SUVs for a weekend jaunt. The planet is ready to cough - and yet we hear too few talking about the environment. Too many environmental laws have been thwarted and ignored. And too many people do not think twice about throwing that empty out the window on the freeway.

Our government spies on us and yet our elected leaders do nothing about it. Changes in the CIA point to increasing wiretaps.

Our elected representatives sit on their wallets and do nothing about the lies, corruption...

Our nation is becoming a corporate state - a nation for the rich and corporations, by the rich and corporations... And yet too few do anything about it.

Our complacency is what is really dooming us. Our willingness to let this all happen is to blame.

Maybe we should just smile and let this all happen. Why waste our energies and voices. Why be the voices calling out in the wilderness?

Tired! Disgusted! State of dispair! Sometimes I wish there were a small corner on this planet where I can go, curl up, and not care.
