So Little Time, So Many Regimes to Change

So Little Time, So Many Regimes to Change highlights the glee and the upcoming (possible) actions of W and his merry band of neo-cons. I always knew Iran and Syria, but Jim Lobe (article's author) also lists China, Russia, and even Venezuela. And then, of course, the real evil one - the Emporer to all those Darth Vader's - THE U.N.

Feel shivers at the mention of its name? No! This is a group that has as its founding charter:

WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED

to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and

to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and

to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and

to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,

AND FOR THESE ENDS

to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and

to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and

to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and

to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples,

HAVE RESOLVED TO COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THESE AIMS

What evil. No wonder the neo-cons have, for so long, been set on getting out of the U.N. We don't need to be in an organization built on the principle of collaboration - built on the ideal of peace - Come on! We have been established by the Creator to give the world democracy - Right? Well at least that would be the response of many Americans.

We are spending so much time, resources and lives on trying to bring our notion of democracy to other parts of the world. While we are busy dabbling in others' affairs, we have turned our eyes away from internal issues, our own lack of democracy and our own problems (our unemployed, our homeless, our destruction of the environment, our own election problems - think Ohio, Florida...).
